When it comes to shopping, my life is a constant fight between me wanting to have all those pretty things and me knowing that I don’t have neither enough money nor space to fit in all of my hypotetical goods (but to be honest, I think that’s really most of us). In consequence I usually end up with loads of more or less useful stuff. Some of them I will regret, some of them I’ll give to someone else, some I will keep and like. And some of this stuff I am gonna love instantly and keep using over and over again. So, without further ado, those are some of the „more useful” products that I bought this year and particularly liked.
Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator
In the beginning of the year my skin has started to act really funny. It never was perfect, but usually I didn’t have too many troubles with it and I could go out without even putting on a foundation or concealer and I still looked all right. But this year it was just like a sudden explosion of imperfections and spots all around my neck and jaw line and even on my cheeks (I’ve never had that many blackheads on my cheeks!) and I really didn’t know what to do. It looked worse and worse every day. But still, I had to moisturize. Then my friend recommended this product to me and well, it was love from the first use. First of all, its gel-cream formula is perfect to all types of skin, especially mixed and oily as it doesn’t block pores (I didn’t need any more of those!). Secondly, it hydrates and nourishes the skin so well, the difference is really visible. It has a light texture and absorbs very quickly. I usually use it at night but it can be applied even under make up. The moisturising effect lasts really long and the skin is smooth and soft to touch (even though apparently it’s not good to touch your face too often, but it’s just so nice!). It definitely helped me to manage my skin problems and I think it’s worth every penny. I’ve recently purchased like the fourth jar of this goodie and I don’t think I will stop to use it any time soon.
Johnson’s Baby Soothing Naturals Intense Moisture Cream
This one I got from the clearance section and I thought that I can use it as a body lotion. But then I run out of face cream and I decided to give it a shot. I figured it can’t be too bad, if it’s suitable for babies and it has „naturals” written on the top. And it turned out to be AMAZING. I’m not even joking, I think it’s one of the best moisturisers I’ve ever had. At first I was a little scared how it’s gonna react on my recently rather problematic face. It seemed to had rather rich texture, but it sinks in quite quickly (still, it’d be better as a night cream). Enriched with vitamin E and olive leaf extract, it’s great for dry and tired skin. I think it completely transformed my skin and, I dare to say, helped to clear it. I don’t know how did it happen but since I’m using it my face came back to its normal, quite nice state without any excessive breakouts and blackheads (or whiteheads). Now, I know that every skin is different and it may not have such a spectacular effect on everyone, but it’s very nice moisturiser that really feeds, smooths and hydrates the skin, smells amazing and it’s quite affordable. I just love it.
St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub
I’ve heard so many opinions about this being the best scrub brand that I decided to give it a go. And it became also my favourite brand when it comes to exfoliators. This one, made with 100% natural exfoliants (walnut shell powder, to be precise) deep cleanses the skin without irritating it. It’s really nice to use, easy to rinse and it smells lovely. I use it once or twice a week and it results with clear, fresh and smooth skin, and as it contains salicylic acid, it helps to prevent new breakouts. I really like this product and I’d recommend it to everyone.
Basically everything made by Soap & Glory
No joking here, I haven’t met a S&G product I didn’t like. From packages and names to scents to results, Soap & Glory has it all and it is definitely one of my favourite brands of all time. This year I particularly enjoyed the Sugar Crush line. Somehow it never was my favourite scent until this summer, when I started to use the body wash… and then body butter… and the fragrance mist.. and suddenly it was all sweet lime and vanilla musk. The body wash is just so creamy and refreshing and the body buttercream that you can see on the picture is one of the products that I’m so happy I discovered. The trick is to apply it on the slightly damp skin and let it work its miracles. Packed with nourishing ingredients such as shea butter and almond oil, leaves the skin soft and moisturised. It feels, looks and smells amazing, it also absorbs super quickly (which is extremally important for me being an extra lazy person). I use it constanty and I absolutely love the results and the fact that for me it smells like summer.
Talking about S&G I can’t forget about Soap And Glory Hand Food Hand Cream. There’s one thing you have to know about me: no matter how hard I try, my hands usually look rather miserable. It’s mostly due to the lack of consequence and constant use of antibacterical soap that I apply at work. Looking for something that would help my poor, chapped hands I keep coming back to this hand cream. Right now I have a big tube next to my bed and a mini version of this product in each of handbags, just in case. It works instantly, doesn’t feel greasy at all and smells really nice.
Clinique High Impact Mascara
The funny thing about me and make up is that somehow I didn’t use that much make up this year. I don’t know why (hint: I’m just a lazy person), but one day I decided to go bare faced and the next thing I know it was how I looked like for the 80% of 2017. But still if I had to pick one make up product I couldn’t live without, that’d definitely be a mascara. I wrote more about this particular one here and what can I add, few months later I still think it’s absolutely amazing.
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara
Really nice product for a relatively good price. Lenghtens and separates the lashes without clumping or smudging. Adds volume and lasts for a long time (still I’d rather use it as everyday mascara rather than the one for a big night out). What I particularly like is that I think it has a deeper shade than the Clinique one and then defines lashes a bit better. I use those two alternately and I love both.
Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
Now the thing is, I know it won’t be my favourite palette of all times (to be honest, I’m still looking for that perfect one). But I’ve decided to mention it here because I absolutely love the colours and with this palette I created the best make up look of the year (in case you’re wondering, that was one day when I went on holidays in Italy and well, I wish I’d taken more pictures). The shades are beautiful and easy to apply and blend. Usually I don’t use applicators provided in palettes as I prefer to use proper brushes, but couple of times I had to use the one that comes with this palette and surprisingly, the result was quite nice, which is also a pro. Plus, it is just so pretty! So I definitely like it, but I’m still looking for an eyeshadow palette that will steal my heart. Next year, maybe?
Obviously there are many more products that I liked and I will definitely continue to use (like my absolutely favourite Garnier tissue masks), but I tried to keep it short. I hope you liked it! 🙂 Happy New Year and I hope 2018 will bring only good things (and more amazing beauty products to discover)! Thank you for reading ❤
