Mango and young barley grass smoothie- delicious, healthy, and super easy.

This is the first smoothie I made in a long time. I must say, I’m proud and oh, so happy, so I decided to share it with you.

As with many healthy recipes, this one was inspired by my Mum. She has also provided a blender and a pack of young barley grass. My Mum has been making smoothies (or “cocktails”, as we call them) of all colors and flavors for as long as I can remember. She uses blueberries, strawberries, bananas, avocados… Everything you could wish for!

This smoothie is very easy to prepare; all it takes is one mango, two spoonfuls of young barley grass powder, two spoonfuls of honey, and a cup of soya milk. I was planning to add avocado or bananas as well, but I was in a hurry when I went out shopping and I couldn’t find anything, so I kinda decided to follow the instinct; I grabbed two mangos and soya milk… and voilà!

Young barley grass is one of the “green grasses” that are recently becoming more and more popular because of their health benefits. It is one of the best sources of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It supports digestion and helps to cleanse and detoxify the body. A high content of chlorophyll helps oxygenate the blood and purify the kidneys and liver. Such a great power in such a tiny powder!

At this stage it may not look very appealing… but wait for it!

Little cup looks cute on the pictures, but it’s better to mix the liquid in something bigger if you want your smoothie to stay in the jug and not, let’s say, on the floor (yeah, that happened!).

Ready to drink.

And it’s incredibly quick to prepare- it took me only 7 minutes! (And that includes cleaning the wall after I realized I may wanna take a bigger cup…)

Thank you for reading!
